A network management agent that operates between an unmanaged device and a management system, allowing management by proxy — that is, on behalf of the device.
A service used to coordinate proxy matters. The proxy agent coordinates with issuers and clearing agencies, and returns speciallyprepared proxy cards to issuers on behalf of brokers and their customers. The proxy agent also mails voting materials to the brokerage's customers and solicits instructions on how customers' shares should be voted.
A network management agent that sits in front of a device attached to a network that needs to be managed, but has no intrinsic network management capabilities. The proxy agent provides network management "by proxy" for that device.
