(vE-nog-ra-fE) A type of x-ray in which contrast material is injected into a vein to show the details of its structure and any abnormality that may be present.

A procedure in which an x-ray of the veins is taken after a special dye is injected into the bone marrow or veins.

Also called phlebography. Special X-ray examination of veins, particularly of the deep veins in the legs, to look for changes in the vein valves, but most important to look for deep venous thrombosis, a condition that may cause pulmonary embolism, a potentially fatal condition.
