Special Education Needs - Learning difficulties for which a child needs special education help. May include children with physical disabilities or emotional and behavioural disorders.
Special Educational Needs. Children with special educational needs have significantly greater difficulty in learning than most children of the same age or have a disability. These children may need extra or different help from that given to other children of the same age.
This denotes any child that has been identified as having some form of educational need, either as a result of learning difficulty or if they are deemed as particularly bright or gifted. These children receive additional support, either from within the school or from outside agencies. Consult the DfES booklet 'SEN: A Guide for Parents' if you think your child may have special educational needs.
