Definitions for "Abir"
an aromatic powder of Hindu origin frequently used to perfume oriental products; composed mostly of cloves, sandalwood and cardamom
Abir (or abeer) is a dye common in India. It is used during the Holi festival, which is also called the festival of color, when people throw this colourful powder at each other. Abir is typically sold in markets prior to the festival.
Abir was the name of the fighting technique of Israelite warriors. Today, Yehoshua Sofer claims to still practice and teach a modern recreation of this martial art, abirwarriorarts. Sofer's claims of Abir being a "traditional" Jewish martial art remains a point of controversy with some as to whether this is authentic claim.
