Overland passage running 715 miles from Lashio in Burma to Kunming in the southwestern province of Yunnan. Used by the Allies in the early part of World War II to send supplies to Chiang Kai‑shek's government in Chongqing. Closed in 1942 when Britain lost Burma to Japan.
