Definitions for "Cluster size"
The size of the smallest amount of disk space that can be allocated to a file on a partition. The cluster size is determined by the partition type and partition size, as shown in the following tables: Cluster sizes with a FAT16 Partition Partition Size Cluster Size 0 - 15 MB 1 KB 16 - 127 MB 2 KB 128 - 255 MB 4 KB 256 - 511 MB 8 KB 512 - 1023 MB 16 KB 1024 - 2047 MB 32 KB Cluster sizes with a FAT32 Partition Partition Size Cluster Size 260MB - 8 GB 4 KB 8 - 16 GB 8 KB 16 - 32 GB 16 KB 32 GB 32 KB
The smallest amount of disk space that a file can occupy, With hard disks, the larger the size of the disk, the larger the cluster. On many computers, including those using DOS, Windows 3.x,Windows 95 (Original Version) and Mac OS,this results in much wasted hard disk space because individual small files each occupy a whole cluster much larger than the file itself.
The size of a ProtoNet cluster is defined as the number of proteins in this cluster.
