A contact sheet is a print of a roll of negatives. Contact sheets are used to evaluate the pictures so that it is easier to determine which ones to enlarge and what corrections to make on the final prints.
A term for a print containing the images of (usually) an entire roll of film. Usually an 8x10 print made by directly placing negatives directly on the print paper, exposing the negative(s) at one time. This process gives images exactly the size of the negative. Making a contact print of a whole roll of film
A contact print made from several negatives at one time. The negatives actually come in "contact" with the printing paper, or as close as possible to the print paper when in a contact-printer negative holder. An image with high CONTRAST has bright highlights and dark shadows.

A photo paper sheet that displays the images from the negatives of a roll of film. Also called proof sheets. It gives those selecting pictures a chance to preview the images before deciding which prints to enlarge.
A single picture made of multiple thumbnails. Comes from the conventional photography practice of laying the negatives neatly on a piece of photo paper (hence "contact sheet") and developing it. Dinwise allows you to specify the number of thumbnails per sheet (both across and down), their appearance, size and whether you'd like titles also.
