Definitions for "Epic Simile"
a fully developed simile that likens some thing or action in the epic to some (usually) natural action or image (landscapes, trees, the moon, the seasons, common men in everyday activities, insects or other creatures, etc
an extended simile that may go on for ten, twenty, or more lines and may contain multiple points of comparison
Sometimes known as a Homeric simile, an epic simile is an extended and elaborate simile, not to be confused with a Conceit. The epic simile is lengthy and elaborate, but rarely shocking or apparently outrageous in the manner of the conceit.
