A label that contains an RFID tag. It's considered "smart" because it can store information, such as a unique serial number, and communicate with a reader.
An RFID transponder comprising a thin, foil-type antenna with a chip, placed between two layers of (often self-adhesive) paper. Smart labels are used in airline baggage tagging, parcel services, retail supply chain management and rental services (libraries).
