a splitting open of the uterus and may also cause late-pregnancy bleeding
a tear in the wall of the uterus, most often at the site of a previous c-section incision
a traumatic event no matter what the outcome
MS = A tearing of uterine tissue; it may be traumatic or spontaneous due to multiple pregnancy, large fetus, previous scarring, or obstruction. AN = spontaneous or traumatic but do not coord with RUPTURE or RUPTURE, SPONTANEOUS UI = D014597
When the scar from a previous cesarean ruptures during labor. Signs of a rupture include searing pain in the abdomen and fetal distress. Immediate cesarean is necessary, followed by repair of the uterus, if possible.
Occurs when the uturus ruptures during labor, usually from a previous scar opening up, such as the scar from a prior cesarean.
Uterine rupture is a potentially catastrophic event during childbirth by which the integrity of the myometrial wall is breached. In an incomplete rupture the peritoneum is still intact. With a complete rupture the contents of the uterus may spill into the peritoneal cavity or the broad ligament.
