A very common funding technique where a leasing company exchanges, or assigns, its rights to the future lease payments in a lease to a funding source, in return for upfront cash. This cash represents the amount of the loan, and is equal to the present value of the future lease payments. A lease that has been assigned to a funding source is called an assigned lease.
