A kind of buttress of masonry to strengthen a revetment wall.
A foundation wall section that strengthens (and is generally perpendicular to) a long section of foundation wall.
Solid pillars of masonry within the body of the revetment. Counterforts are perpendicular to the revetment and are designed to support the weight of the rampart fill.
