Licensed by the state to provide 24-hour supportive care, nursing care and other medically-related services such as rehabilitation and therapy. Admission by a physician's order. Includes Skilled Nursing Facilities and Intermediate Care Facilities.
Approximately 650 nursing homes throughout the Commonwealth provide physician-ordered medical services and supervised nursing care on a 24-hour basis for persons who do not require acute care hospitalization, and whose needs can only be met through inpatient care in a long-term care nursing facility.
