The electrode in an electrochemical cell that carries a positive charge. In an electrolytic cell, it is the anode. In a voltaic cell, it is the cathode.
The electrode which has a positive potential. Electric current from this electrode flows in the external circuit during discharge.
The electrode acting as a cathode when a cell or battery is discharging.
