One of the most frequently used preservatives against bacteria and mold. It has a low sensitizing and low toxicity factor. Considered a non-comedogenic raw material.
p-hydroxybenzoic esters (parabens) are petroleum-derived products used as inhibitors of microbial growth and to extend shelf life of products. They are widely used even though they are known to be toxic, and the cause of many allergic reactions and skin rashes. (see methylparaben)
