Definitions for "SYNCHRONIZER"
A mechanism employing a common rotary shaft that has sprockets which, by engaging perforations in the film, pass corresponding lengths of picture and sound films simultaneously, thus effectively keeping the two (or more) films in synchronism during the editing process.
A machine which has several rotating wheels with sprockets on them. By placing pieces of film or soundtrack on these wheels these pieces can be run in perfect sync with each other.
A film synchronizer is a device used in the editing phase of filmmaking.

an instrument that indicates whether two periodic motions are synchronous (especially an instrument that enables a pilot to synchronize the propellers of a plane that has two or more engines)
an electronic device that monitors the phase relationship between two voltage sources and provides a connection signal to an engine governor, to force the generator set to synchronize to the system bus
The component within a spread spectrum radio that maintains alignment between the local PN sequence and the received PN sequence. Synchronization is broken down into two steps: initial acquisition followed by tracking.
A circuit that supplies timing signals to other radar components.
In computer science, a synchronizer is an algorithm that can be used to run a synchronous algorithm on top of an asynchronous processor network, so enabling the asynchronous system to run as a synchronous network.
