Definitions for "Synchronous operation"
A type of operation in which the remote copy function copies updates to the secondary volume pair at the same time that the primary volume is updated. Contrast with asynchronous operation.
In Windows programming, a task that requires the thread that initiated the operation to suspend activity until the task is completed. See also asynchronous operation, atomic operation. In hardware, an operation that proceeds under control of a clock or timing mechanism.
