A motor's design speed, determined by the number of poles that the motor has, and the frequency of the current being supplied to it.
The speed at which a motor is designed to run.
The speed of an AC induction motor's rotating magnetic field. It is determined by the frequency applied to the stator and the number of magnetic poles present in each phase of the stator windings. Mathematically it is expressed as Speed (RPM) = 120 x Applied Frequency (Hz) / Number of Poles Per Phase.
