The Sun is a tabloid daily newspaper published in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland with the highest circulation of any daily English-language newspaper in the world, standing at 3,107,412 copies daily in the first half of 2006 , (cf USA Today, the best-selling US newspaper at 2,270,000 ). The daily readership is just over 7,800,000 and it has more than twice as many readers in the ABC1 demographic as its upmarket stablemate The Times, although much less as a proportion of total sales. It is published by News Group Newspapers of News International, itself a subsidiary of Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation.
