Name given to the base sheet which is intended to be off-machine coated or converted.

Original paper manufactured for further converting by coating or laminating. Photo inkjet papers start with a base paper stock and then several coating are applied to produce a high quality photo inkjet paper. Coating applied can include; resin coating, cast coating, micro-porous coating, sizings, primers, etc.

Paper before it is embossed, or before it is processed by any other finishing or converting operation.

The paper for coating or other types of finishing including laminating and consisting mainly of fibers, but may contain other additives depending on its use. For example, for coated printing papers it will contain filler and sizing, but may also be surface sized.

Paper that will subsequently be coated laminated or treated in other ways.
