Plants make their principal growth during the cool weather in the spring and set seed in late spring or early summer. New growth can appear in the fall if moisture is adequate.
Used in reference to plants that initiate and complete much of their growth early in the growing season, or to those plants that maintain significant vegetative activity throughout most of the year.
