An ISDN channel used to carry control signals and customer call data in a packet switched mode. Provides the signaling information for each of the voice channels (known as B-channels).
The channel that carries data for ISDN.
is an ISDN circuit used for dialing and other signaling.
A dedicated data channel for Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) configuration and set-up.
One of the three standard channels on a Basic Rate ISDN line. At 16 kilobits per second, a D-channel can carry signaling information and low-speed packet data.
The ISDN channel used to deliver network control information; often referred to as out-of-band signaling. Because many telephone companies are not configured for out-of-band signaling, they combine the D-channel information with a B-channel. The result of this combination is lower data rates, 56Kbps and 112Kbps, because of the overhead added to the B-channel.
A D-channel is a data channel for signaling between the user and the ISDN network. A PRI D-channel is 64kbps, a BRI D-channel is 16kbps. The D-channel can also be used to carry packet switched data at up to 9,600bps.
One of the three standard channels on a BRI line. At 16 Kbps, a D-channel carries all signaling information and can carry low-speed packet data such as X.25 packet switching.
The Data Channel on the ISDN circuit is used to carry control signals and customer call data at 16 kbps (BRI) and 64 kbps (PRI).
Data channel. Full-duplex, 16-kbps (BRI) or 64-kbps (PRI) ISDN channel. Used for signaling and control.
Used when refering to ISDN lines. The ISDN BRI ( Basic Rate Interface) has 2 64K B-channels and one D-channel. The B-channels are used for voice, data or video transmissions, while the D-channel is used for signaling.
A separate channel of an ISDN line that is used for ISDN signaling. For ISDN Basic Rate Interface (BRI), the D-channel is 16 kilobits per second (Kbps). For ISDN Primary Rate Interface (PRI), the D-channel is 64 Kbps. D-channel is also called data channel.
Delta Channel. With ISDN the D-Channel is used for signaling only.
An ISDN channel that provides a 16-kbps or 64-kbps packet-mode connection between a servicing switch and a customer's premises. The channel carries signal and control information for B-channel activity and also can carry user data in the form of packets.
A communications line that carries signaling information separate from the lines carrying data. See also ISDN. (HG) D-Channels, from PRI (see also) lines or station-side digital taps, can be used to trigger starting or stopping recordings, and capturing other data from the phone system related to DNIS, dialed digits, ANI, or even whatever appears on individual phone set displays.
Delta channel. A circuit-switched channel that carries signaling and control for B channels. In Basic Rate Interface (BRI) applications, it can also support customer packet data traffic at speeds up to 9.6 kbps. See also B-channel and BRI.
The "data" channel of an ISDN interface, used to carry control signals and customer call data in a packet-switched mode. In the basic rate interface (BRI), the D-channel operates at 16Kbps; in the pr ... more
A channel that carries WAN synchronization information on a line using ISDN D-channel signalling.
