A divided highway for through traffic with partial access control and including grade separations at all or most major intersections.
Roadways not on the Interstate Highway System with limited access points designed to move high volumes of traffic at high speeds. The Arlington Expressway and MLK Expressway are Jacksonville examples. Expressways generally provide connectivity between arterial roadways or between arterial roadways and limited access roadways.
