A type of cable which contains (normally) six ways of power to a lighting bar. Can also be used in sound and, indeed, to refer to any cable which carries more than three ways.
a single cable with many conductors through which many circuits are run, be they power or control. Benefits include reduced weight when compared against an equivalent number of individual cables as well as speed and ease of installation and use. Most widely used are 6 circuit (18 conductor) power multicores using socapex connectors.
A cable with multiple cores allowing signals to be carried independently but within the same physical outer casing.
Audio or lighting cable containing many bundled leads allowing signal transmission along separate channels. Also known as 'Snake'.
A flexible electrical cable composed of several well-insulated cores covered in a strong PVC or rubber covering. Enables a number of different circuits to be carried down one piece of cable. Both lighting and sound multicores are available.
A bundle of plastic fiber optic strands fused together.
A Multicore (-Cable) describes a special kind of cable, being used in PA- und Live-Studio/Concert/Gig technologies. It combines a huge number of small cables, mostly used as audio interfaces to transmit the signal of several microphones, such as from a drum set, guitar and bass-amps and the singing-microphones to the mixer-setup.
