A transmission line in which voltages on the two conductors are unequal with respect to ground. A coaxial cable is a common type of unbalanced cable.
Cable that consists of one conductor and a shield. Here the shield is also carrying the other half of the signal.
Audio sources associated with non-professional equipment which rely on two-conductors. Unbalanced lines tend to be susceptible to hum and electronic interference. See also balanced lines.
A transmission line in which a single conductor is used to transmit a signal, in reference to ground (for example, in a coaxial cable).
A transmission line in which the magnitudes of the voltages, on the two conductors are not equal in respect to ground.
