Definitions for "Open-label"
a study in which both the investigator and patient know who is taking the drug being studied--usually said of studies without placebo-control.
Open-label refers to a person knowingly receiving pills with active medication; there is no possibility of receiving placebo in an open-label study (see below).
refers to a drug trial which is not randomized and not blinded; both participants and investigators know what drug is being tested and what dose is being used.
