Definitions for "Shear zone"
A region, narrow in comparison with its length, within which rocks have undergone intense deformation.
fault zone, often associated with fluid movement and mineralisation
an originally planar zone of rock that has been deformed or fractured by shearing motions. Shear zones often act as zones of fluid flow and therefore have associated hydrothermal alteration or mineralization.
The area in which a wind shear occurs usually between two wind currents moving at different speeds and/or in opposite directions.
