Adverse Drug Experience. An injury caused by the use of medications, or the failure to use appropriate medications when indicated, rather than the patient's underlying condition.
An injury resulting from medical intervention related to a drug. Does not necessarily imply medical error; ADEs can include non-preventable incidents such as adverse reactions to properly prescribed drugs (see ADR), as well as preventable incidents due to improper prescribing or other errors.
