A protozoan infection carried by the Deer Tick. Signs and symptoms include high fever, muscle aches, chills, fatigue, headache, and loss of appetite. Symptoms usually go away without treatment, but some cases may be severe. Babesiosis is treated with antimicrobial drugs. Other tick-borne diseases that occur in Minnesota include Human Granulocytic Ehrlichiosis (HGE) and Lyme disease.
