Definitions for "Breadth of the Market"
This term is used when 2/3 of stocks listed on an exchange comprise a particular market move in either direction during a single trading session.
Is a percentage of stocks participating in a market move. Usually analysts say there was good breadth if 2/3 of stocks listed on an exchange rose during a trading session.
Also called "advance/decline" indexes, it is a percentage of stocks participating in a market move. If 2/3 of the stocks listed on an exchange rise during a trading session, most analysts will consider the move to be a good breadth of the market.
