Short for digital-to-analog converter, this is a device that changes a digitally-coded word into its "equivalent" quantized analog voltage or current. Just like the A/D device, there are very high-speed D/A's available, capable of converting at data rates up to 1 GHz.
A device that converts digital signals to analog signals.
A circuit that converts a digital audio signal into an analog audio signal.
The conversion of a digital data stream into analog signals. The digital word is buffered and then converted into an analog signal. After conversion, the analog signal is usually processed through a smoothing filter which removes the step transitions between the digital words. The 02R uses 20-bit linear digital-to-analog converters for most of its analog outputs.
A device that accepts a digital signal as an input and converts it to analog form at its output.
Converts a Digital signal into an analogue signal.
The digital-to-analog converter (DAC) converts the numeric values stored on a CD into a series of voltages, which then produce the audio signal we hear. Most CD players use 1-bit D/A converters; some CD models (and most DVD players) use multi-bit converters. Both kinds of DACs provide excellent sound quality.
A circuit used at the output of a digital computer or processor to provide analog signals of power. A DAC is sometimes used to drive a standard video monitor.
A circuit that converts signals from digital form to analog form.
A device which converts digital binary number back into continuous analogue wave forms, see also A/D converter.
a device that converts digital pulses into analog signals.
An electronic device that transforms a signal sample from a digital form to an analog form. The digital form is usually a set of 8 or more binary bits which produces an analog signal of 2^n bit levels.
An electronic device, often an integrated circuit, that converts a digital value to an analog voltage. D/A converters are used in many instruments to convert digital reading information into an analog signal for analog output.
A hardware device that takes a set of bits, typically from a processor, as input and produces an analog signal proportional to the digital input as output. Short for digital-to-analog converter. Abbreviated DAC. D/A converters might be as simple as an array of resistors configured in the typical "R-2R" fashion or a hybrid module that generates very precise results with many bits of resolution. A simple use is to vary the intensity of a lamp (another approach that avoids the messy analog world is a pulse-width modulator that uses different switching rates and pulse lengths to control intensity). See also A/D converter.
