A reaction from which heat is lost eg: combustion.
A chemical reaction which evolves heat. Combustion reactions are exothermic.
a chemical reaction accompanied by the evolution of heat
a reaction that gives out heat, e
a reaction that releases energy in the form of heat or light, instead of taking it in
a reaction where heat is given off during the formation of new bonds
a reaction which gives out heat energy to the surroundings
The majority of chemical reactions are accompanied by the evolution of heat - these is known as exothermic reactions. The reaction between an acid and a base is exothermic, it is possible to feel the temperature change when one is added to the other - see below: A rapid exothermic reation results in an explosion, as occurs when TNT explodes.
A chemical reaction in which the process releases heat energy. (example: a fire, the curing process of cement, etc.) The opposite of Endothermic Reaction
A reaction in which heat is liberated.
Exothermic is defined as a chemical change accompanied by a liberation of heat. The heat produced by oxidation resulting from the reaction of the combustible material with oxygen is a perfect example of an exothermic reaction.
A reaction in which heat is given off to the surroundings as the products of the reaction are formed. The addition of high concentrations of sodium hydroxide to water produces an exothermic reaction.
Reaction that produces heat.
A process that gives off heat.
Chemical reaction giving off heat in the process, such as combustion.
In chemistry, an exothermic reaction is one that releases heat . It is the opposite of an endothermic reaction.
