Typically, lending libraries vary in the length of time they lend ILL items and have different renewal policies. ASU, for example, lends for 30 days with no renewals. Other libraries may lend for 3 weeks with renewals on a case-by-case basis. Basically, the patron sends ILL a renewal request, either via e-mail or phone. We then submit the renewal request via OCLC. The lending library then sends ILL the approval/denial via OCLC and then the patron is notified and their record on SABIO is changed if the renewal was approved.
