Short for Applicability Statement 2. AS2 is a specification for Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) between businesses using the Internet's Web page protocol, the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP). The specification is an extension of the earlier version, Applicability Statement 1 (AS1). Both specifications were created by EDI over the Internet (EDIINT), a working group of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) that develops secure and reliable business communications standards.
Applicability Statement 2 - an international standard for exchanging messages over the Internet where the transport protocol is the HyperText Transport Protocol.
(Applicability Statement 2): a standard by which applications communicate EDI data, or other information such as XML documents, over the Internet using the HTTP/S protocol. AS2 offers increased verification and security achieved through the use of receipts and digital signatures. Another edge for AS2: Its transactions and acknowledgements occur in real-time, increasing the efficiency of document exchanges.
Applicability Statement 2 (AS2) is Electronic Data Interchange over the Internet (EDI-INT) specification that uses a well-known standard using HTTP to transport data.
Transports business-critical data over the Internet via HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) or HTTP/S (Secure HTTP). AS2 provides additional security protection as well as responding with a message letting the sender know that the data was received.
AS2 (Applicability Statement 2) is a specification about how to transport data securely and reliably over the Internet. It is described in detail in RFC http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc4130.txt 4130.
