Secure FTP - Like SCP, but more like FTP.
( Secure File Transfer Protocol) SFTP is a protocol similar to ftp, but performs all operations over an encrypted ssh transport, thus gaining the features of public key encryption and compression.
An interactive file transfer program which performs all operations over an encrypted SSH transport. It may also use many features of OpenSSH. Shibboleth An Internet2 project to provide inter-domain Authorization information. Special Authorization (SpecAuth) An Oracle-based system to record information about UW-Madison affiliates that are not students (and thus in ISIS) or employees (and thus in IADS). Examples include hospital employees, retirees, guest lecturers, etc. SpecAuth was originally used to get photo ID's for non-student/non-employee, but is now used for a wider variety of things.

is an acronym for Secure File Transfer Protocol. It is a completely different protocol to FTP which uses a single connection entirely encrypted in an SSH tunnel. For more information, see the SFTP section.
A set of ground rules (a "protocol") that allows two computers to exchange files securely over a network. When you connect to a server using SFTP, SSH encryption is used to protect your password and the data transferred between your Macintosh and the server. Fetch supports connecting to servers with SFTP. For more information, see the SFTP help topic. SFTP stands for "SSH File Transfer Protocol," although it is also sometimes referred to as "Secure File Transfer Protocol."
FTP (File Transfer Protocol) over SSH (Secure Shell), or Secure FTP. We recommend using SFTP for transferring files.
secure file transfer protocol. SFTP allows a webmaster to upload via FTP with relative confidence. If he feels his FTP password could be compromised, a webmaster should use secure FTP to upload web files.
