The term browser safe colors refers to a set of 216 colors that can be displayed on computers with at least a 256-color display and any browser without dithering. In the HTML hexadecimal codes for colors, each color (RGB) has a value of 00, 33, 66, 99, CC, or FF. These colors are a very small subset of the 16,777,216 valid HTML colors, but early graphics hardware could not accurately display all colors.
