One of the key assessment tools for Academic Performance Evaluation. Students may be assessed using the Overall CGPA, the Major CGPA, and sometimes the Core CGPA.
For the calculation of Grade Point Average (GPA), G is the grade point awarded, U is the credit units earned for the i th course. CGPA is calculated for courses taken during enrolment for a specific programme, i=1-n are all courses completed at the time of the calculation, unless excluded under AR8.3, or AR11.3.
A student=s CGPA is the average of all his/her course GPA=s in every high school course the student has taken.

A numerical value derived from final grades on all courses attempted within the program major e.g. (Higher Diploma in Computer Information Processing), except Work Placement and courses graded P/F.
The average of a college student’s earned grades calculated by point values assigned to letter grades that include grades for all attempted regularly graded coursework, including activity courses and forgiven coursework. This GPA may be used for financial aid or eligibility purposes, for admission to graduate or professional programs, or to determine eligibility for graduation honors. (see grade points). The cumulative grade point average is based upon work taken at the University of Houston, including courses that are repeated, for which grade point values are assigned. The cumulative grade point average indicates overall performance and is computed by dividing the total number of grade points earned by the number of semester hours attempted, excluding S/U hours.
The CGPA is the cumulative grade point total divided by the total number of credit hours attempted at the U of M which form part of the student's program and includes transfer courses.
