A grade on the student's grade report that means the student's work in the course was not complete. Usually there is a time limit on finishing the work before the grade changes to a failure (F). See "Grading System" above.
a temporary mark given to a student who is doing passing work in a course but who cannot complete all the requirements for the course during the term. The student must have a valid reason and must complete the requirements within a period of time acceptable to the instructor.
a temporary mark given to a student who is doing passing work in a course but who cannot complete all the requirements for the course during the term. The student must have an acceptable reason for not being able to complete the requirements on time, and must complete the requirements within a specified period of time following the term's end.
A grade (noted by an "I" on your transcript) that indicates you have not completed all the requirements of a course. You may receive an incomplete if circumstances beyond your control (e.g. illness or accident) prevented you from finishing a class. Once you receive an incomplete you have one year to complete the required work. How you complete the required work is agreed upon by you and the professor of the course. If you do not complete the required "make-up" work, the "I" grade will be counted as an "F" in your GPA.
miscarriage(IMC) Any miscarriage before all miscarriage tissue has been expelled. Traditionally a uterine curettage was done after a miscarriage, in the belief (often accurate) that there would still be some immature pregnancy tissue left in the uterus that could cause more bleeding and get infected. Nowadays we can distinguish an incomplete from a complete miscarriage (and whether or not a curettage should be done) with a transvaginal ultrasound, which is able to reveal significant retained tissue. Management is similar to the management of an inevitable miscarriage (and both are abbreviated IMC).
Grade designation "I" indicating that a course has not been completed.
An "I" grade may be awarded by an instructor when a student, because of illness or other circumstances, can not complete course objectives by the end of the term. The student must complete the outstanding course objectives within 30 days of the end of the term. At the end of 30 days, if the outstanding work has not been completed, the instructor will change the "I" grade to an "F" grade.
A grade in a course for work that has not been completed.
A course outcome submitted by a CDL instructor that indicates a student has been granted additional time to complete a course (see Extension).

a temporary grade given only when your work has been of acceptable quality near the end of the course, but the required amount has not been completed because of reasons satisfactory to the instructor
An incomplete grade may be given for work not completed in a course due to circumstances beyond the student's control. The student must be passing the course and have completed at least 80% of the required course work. See Grading Polices.
You may receive an I in a class if you have an emergency that can be documented by medical records, death certificates, etc. You can only receive an I if you have been making satisfactory progress prior to the emergency. After the I has been submitted to the Registration and Records Office, you must then complete the work by the end of the fourth week of the next term, or the I will be converted to a F (unless the professor has specified that the I be converted to a C or D).
Grades With the instructor's approval, students may receive a grade of I if they are unable to complete a small, but important part of a course's requirements by semester's end but are committed to doing so by a specified deadline.
a grade that may be given to a student who has not completed all of the requirements for a course prior to the end of the semester or term.
Indicates that a student has been doing acceptable work in the course but has not completed all required work He or she is responsible for having the "I" grade removed during the first two weeks of the following semester.
An instructor may assign an Incomplete (a grade of I) if a student does not complete a major assignment or examination. Course requirements must be met by a method mutually agreed on by the instructor and the student by the end of the next semester or the "I" grade will automatically be changed to an "F".
Given by instructors in consultation with the student when all work for a course is not completed. The instructor must change the “I” to a letter grade within one month of the start of the following long semester. If the “I” is not changed the course grade becomes an “F.
Temporary grade that student and professor agree upon. Requires specific work to be completed in a specific time frame. If work is not complete, the grade becomes an F.
A grade given at the instructor's discretion, when some or all of the course requirements have not been met by the end of the quarter.
A grade given at the discretion of the instructor. A student who receives an Incomplete, or I, typically has not finished the required course work, but is close enough that an instructor is willing to work out an arrangement with the student to finish the course work after the class ends. At most universities, an incomplete automatically changes to an F if an instructor does not make a grade change.
An option which may be arranged to allow a student some additional time to complete their course.
Grade given when a student is doing passing work in a class and has finished 80% of the coursework, but is unable for some unavoidable reason to complete the course on time. You and your instructor must decide on a date of completion and submit a Incomplete Contract to the Registrar.
When a student, because of illness or due to unavoidable circumstances, corroborated by the instructor, has not completed the course objectives, he/she may request to do so by contacting the instructor and arranging to complete the outstanding portion of the work. Faculty are required to complete a Notice of Incomplete Grade Form, providing a copy to both the student and the Records Office. The student must complete the outstanding course objective within 30 days of the end of the semester. Faculty must complete an Incomplete Grade Resolution/Grade Change Form and submit it to the Records Office within 30 days of the end of the semester.

A grade received when a student earning a passing grade is unable to complete a course because of extenuating circumstances. An incomplete is only given with the consent of the course instructor. The course must be completed within one calendar year or the grade "I" will become an "F" or a grade that the instructor deems appropriate. Students may not re-enroll in a course for which they received an incomplete ("I").

Students who are unable to complete their term work may apply to the instructor prior to the end of lectures for an "incomplete" grade and additional time to complete their work. Students will, however, write the final examination. The outstanding work must be completed within the time extension in order for the incomplete grade to be replaced with a final grade. See General Academic Regulations and Requirements, Incompletes.
