Definitions for "Directed Study"
Directed Study is a privilege whereby a student may attempt a three–credit course which is (a) not currently offered; or (b) is currently offered but for which the student cannot register due to unavoidable circumstances. A maximum of 6 credits is allowed toward a degree program.
a CAS course in which a student pursues independent research under the guidance of a faculty member
a catalog course which is offered on an independent basis because it is not on the current schedule, or it is offered in conflict with another required course
