Usually performed in the women's division only, the skater spins in an upright position. As the speed of spin increases, she drops her head and shoulders backwards, arching her back. Skaters often use different arm and leg variations with this spin.
Generally performed by women, the layback spin is a variant of the upright spin. The skater arranges her arms in a circle in front of her body, arches her back, and looks toward the ceiling while spinning.
