A term used by PATHWAYS to describe eligible institutions. Licensing is a way in which states can approve private proprietary institutions to operate in that state.
Official or legal permission to do or own a thing
Having a license; permitted or authorized by license; as, a licensed victualer; a licensed traffic.
Holding a permit to operate. This can range from a difficult-to-obtain state school license to a simple local business license.
Recognized by a professional association or professional regulatory body as possessing the appropriate combination of credentials, training and/or experience. Sometimes used interchangeably with “certified” or “registered.
Indicates the company is incorporated (or chartered) in another state but is a licensed (admitted) insurer for this state to write specific lines of business for which it qualifies.
