Of or pertaining to the millennium, or to a thousand years; as, a millennial period; millennial happiness.
The word Millennium is from the Latin words [ mille] meaning thousand, and [ annum] meaning years. It is not a biblical term, other than it is used by many Christian Theologians to identify the thousand year reign spoken of in Revelation Chapter 20. The Word Millennial is referring to that period of time when God says Satan is bound and the Kingdom of Christ goes forth. For all practical purposes, in theology the words Millennium or Millennial is synonymous with the "one thousand years" of revelation Chapter 20. [ back
1) [chronological] referring to a period of 1000 years, as in Christianity is almost two millennia old; 2) [religious] referring to a 1000 year period of messianic peace on earth (see, chiliasm). Thus a phenomenon can be millennial (chiliastic) without occurring at a millennium (chronological marker) and vice-versa. The round date has, historically, intensified manifestations of religious expectation and social enthusiasm (see sabbatical millennialism).
