The Hebrew form of the Greek word "Christ." It was the title given to the savior of Israel promised in the writing of the prophets.
Messiah: the savior of the world that the Jews predict will come. Also a term used by Christians when referring to Jesus the Christ. The truth is that this great Messiah comes in the form of every human being who chooses God over negative ego, love over fear, oneness over separation, transcendence over duality.
From the Hebrew word for "anointed." One who is set aside and anointed to perform a special task for God.
the savior of Israel. (p. 160)
"Anointed one". Based on a biblical belief that a descendant of King David would return to establish an era of peace and justice for the nation of Israel and the world. Expectations of a cosmic messiah developed in rabbinic Judaism and later to include ideas of the fulfillment of linear time, days of judgement, and a new heaven and a new earth.
Jesus of Nazareth is the Messiah which means 'King' or ' Saviour' or "Anointed One'.

the awaited king of the Jews; the promised and expected deliverer of the Jewish people
a human being chosen by God - as symbolized by an anointing - and enabled to perform an important act
Messiah or Messias, in Hebrew means anointed. Christ is Greek for "Messiah."
the long-awaited deliverer of the Jewish people, as foretold by the Hebrew prophets.
The hebrew term for one called the Anointed one, or Christ in Greek. The Jews were waiting for their Messiah, although they expected a leader that would solve the political crisis they were in with Rome. His coming and death was foretold in Daniel 9. His suffering was foretold in Isaiah 53. Unfortunately the Jews didn't evidently read the prophets much, or they just didn't understand the passages that depicted a suffering Messiah. When Jesus died they didn't see the lamb of God that took away the sins of the world. They didn't see how Jesus fulfilled the pictures or symbolism in Jewish relighious customs, like the lambs blood in the passover, like the timing of the feasts and how they pictured the exact timing of the death of Christ and what He would accomplish on the cross. The sacrifice of Isaac by Abraham was a picture of how God would offer His Son as a sacrtifice for the sins of the world.. Isiah 53 tells us "But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities"... "But the Lord has caused the iniquity of us to fall on Him."
The expected savior. In Hebrew, it means 'The Anointed One'.
Means 'annointed' and comes from the Hebrew word 'mashiach.' Yeshua was the Messiah foretold in the TaNaKh.
From the Hebrew, "anointed" or "anointed one," indicating a person who has been anointed with oil. Messiah is translated in Greek as christos, and the title "Christ" is derived from it.
The Christ, the anointed one of God. Jesus Christ is the Messiah, fulfilling all the promises made by God to His chosen people (see Is. 7:14; 9:6; Matt. 16:13 17).
The Anointed One; the Christ: the name for the promised deliverer of the Hebrews, assumed by Jesus, and given to Him by Christians
A reference to Jesus Christ. Literally, "The Anointed One" (Dan. 9:25).
An old Hebrew word meaning the anointed one. It is translated into the Greek by the word Christ. The Kings of Israel were anointed with oil at their enthronement. Jesus was anointed by the Holy Spirit showing Him to be the Eternal King of God.

(Mashiach)--Literally, “anointed one,†usually a consecrated person (as a king or kohen). The English equivalent for Hebrew Mashiach is “Messiah.†Equivalent to Greek christos, which also means “anointed one.†The word Mashiach comes from the root word mashach (mah·shahkh). This word means to rub with oil, i.e., to anoint, by implication to consecrate. The children of Israel were also considered to be mashiach (anointed; 1Chr 16:20-22). Many of the objects used in Tabernacle and Temple worship were anointed. The tabernacle itself, the altar, the laver, and the garments of the priests are among those items mentioned. (Ex 40:9-13).
a word which means the same as 'Christ'. ('Messiah' is from the Jewish word, 'Christ' from Greek). The Jewish people looked for the Messiah to come to save them from oppression, as God had promised. Jesus claimed to be the Messiah and Christians believe that he was, and is.
Hebrew for "anointed one," a kingly, prophetic, or priestly figure envisioned during and after the Babylonian exile as savior of the Jewish people who would restore their political/religious autonomy. Applied by Christians to Jesus ("Christ" is the Greek equivalent of "messiah") and by Jews throughout history to a handful of leaders (e.g., Simon bar Kokhba, 132–135 C.E., Shabbatai Zevi, 1626–1676 C.E.).
It is a Hebrew term which means "the Anointed One". Its Greek equivalent is Christos (Christ). Christians affirm that Jesus Christ was God's Messiah, anointed and sent to save human beings from their sin. Orthodox Jews still look for the coming of a future Messiah to usher in a Golden Age, or a Messianic Age.
The messiah is a new Adam who must perfect himself and his bride. Together they become true parents. He is chosen by God to save fallen humanity by fulfilling the three blessings and thus providing the way for fallen men and women to be separated from Satan and united with God by engrafting onto the sinless lineage of true parents. Jesus came as the messiah but was murdered before he could take a bride and complete the mission.
'anointed one' expected by Jews to inaugurate an age of universal peace when, among other things, exiled Jews will be restored to the Holy Land
(from Hebrew meshiach; "anointed one"; equivalent to Greek christos) Ancient priests and kings (and sometimes prophets) of Israel were anointed with oil; in early Judaism, the term came to mean a royal descendant of the dynasty of David and redeemer figure who would restore the united kingdom of Israel and Judah and usher in an age of peace, justice and plenty; the messianic age was believed by some Jews to be a time of perfection of human institutions, others believed it to be a time of radical new beginnings, a new heaven and earth, after divine judgment and destruction; the title came to be applied to Jesus/Joshua of Nazareth by his followers, who were soon called Christians in Greek and Latin usage. See Chapter 9.
(Literally, “anointed one,” Gk. Christ) The promised Old Testament deliverer who was uniquely anointed by God to carry out the work of redemption and usher in the Kingdom of God. The title claimed by Jesus, and attested to by His apostles.
Hebrew for "anointed one" or "chosen one;" from the 2nd century BCE, it referred to one who would deliver Israel from her enemies and restore her to prominence in the world. Jewish apocalyptic writings have applied this title in diverse ways, while Christianity tied it directly to Jesus of Nazareth. See also Christ.
God's appointed One, set apart to deliver His people
the anointed one. Prophets, priests, and kings were anointed with oil to set them apart for service to God in the Old Testament. God also promised to send a special anointed one to serve people. The New Testament reveals Jesus as the fulfillment of God's promise-our great prophet, priest, and king who came to save us.
Formed in 1988 during London's acid house craze by college friends Ali Ghani and Mark Davies, Messiah's brand of techno encompasses the aggression and volume of punk and the diva vocals of house music. When Ghani and Davies met at an Iggy Pop concert, the two decided to purchase some electronic equipment and make music for fun; when musical chemistry became evident, they began to get into the English techno and rave scene. After the release of 1993's Temple of Dreams, their first full-length U.S. album, 21st Century Jesus, was released one year later.
