normal response mode. An operational mode of an unbalanced data link in which the secondary station starts transmission only as the result of receiving explicit permission, by polling, from the primary station.

Normal response mode. HDLC mode used on links with one primary and one or more secondaries, allowing a secondary to transmit only after being addressed by a primary. It can then send a series of responses.
