Definitions for "POST-CLOSURE"
As used in this report, referring to the time after a property formerly used for mining has been reclaimed.
The time period following the shutdown of a waste management facility during which monitoring is required to ensure that adverse impacts on public health and the environment do not occur.
The period of time after a landfill is certified as closed by a state regulatory agency, until WMI has no further monitoring responsibility. Environmental and other regulations require the owner of the closed landfill to continue monitoring activities and general maintenance of the site for a specific period of time (generally 30 years).
