The layer of the OSI model dedicated to maintaining a bidirectional communcation connection between two cmputers. The Session layer uses the services of the Transport layer to provide this service.

Layer 5 of the OSI reference model. This layer establishes, manages, and terminates sessions between applications and manages data exchange between presentation layer entities. Layer 5 of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model, responsible for binding and unbinding logical links between end users and maintaining an orderly dialog between them.
The fifth layer of the OSI model, which is concerned with establishing a connection between communication devices. This layer is also responsible for the termination of a conversation/session when the devices have finished communicating.
Layer 5 of OSI Reference Model. Manages a logical connection (session) between two communicating processes or applications.
A network layer that allows two applications on different computers to establish, use, and end a session. This layer establishes dialog control between the two computers in a session, regulating which side transmits, as well as when and how long it transmits.

Layer 5 in the OSI model. The Session Layer deals with user identification and session establishment and termination. The Session Layer manages dialogue between end-user application processes. SIP, NetBIOS, Winsock are examples of Session Layer protocols. Also see OSI model.

Layer 5 of the seven-layer OSI model. The session layer defines the session type between two computers and controls the dialogue between the applications on those two computers. For example, when a user accesses another computer, a session that allows computer applications to inform each other of any problems is created and controlled by Layer 5.

The fifth layer of the OSI Reference Model. The OSI model has been designated by ITU and ISO to enable data communication between different computers, and it standardizes both the overall network structure as well as protocols used therein. A network layer that provides the services needed by the presentation layer entities that enable them to organize and synchronize their dialogue and manage their data exchange. This layer establishes, manages, and terminates network sessions between the client and server. An example of a session layer is Network Session.
Layer 5 of the OSI model. It manages a logical connection between two communication points.
The session layer is level five of the seven level OSI model. It responds to service requests from the presentation layer and issues service requests to the transport layer.
