electrical device consisting of a large array of connected solar cells
a charger that produces electricity from the sun, but otherwise is the same as an AC-powered charger
a device that converts light into electricity
a device that converts the free energy from the sun into more readily
A device that collects energy from the sun and converts it to electricity. Solar panels are also known as “modules.
a device that converts sunlight into electrical power
An array of light-sensitive cells attached to a spacecraft and used to generate electrical power for the vehicle in space. Also called solar array.
A group of photovoltaic modules mechanically mounted on a single frame. See also: Module
A large, rectangular device that converts sunlight directly into electricity with no moving parts. See wind generator.
A device on satellites that converts solar energy into electrical energy using solar cells.
a source of power for satellites, made up of many individual solar cells, which are devices for transforming the energy of sunlight into electricity.
A collection of solar modules connected in series, in parallel, or in series- parallel combination to provide greater voltage, current, or power than can be furnished by a single solar module. Solar panels can be provided to furnish any desired voltage, current, or power. They are made up as a complete assembly. Larger collections of solar panels are usually called solar arrays.
The term solar panel is best applied to a flat solar thermal collector, such as a solar hot water or air panel used to heat water, air, or otherwise collect solar thermal energy. 'Solar panel' may also refer to a photovoltaic module which is an assembly of solar cells used to generate electricity. In all cases, the panels are typically flat, and are available in various heights and widths.
