In her previous album, Complicated, country artist Tanya Tucker had left her longtime producer Jerry Crutchfield. On Tanya, she also left the major record labels behind and started her own company, Tuckertime Records. Five years had passed since her previous album, and her voice had become a little deeper, although retaining the same raspy sound she has always had.
