Definitions for "Charge controller"
An electronic device which regulates the voltage applied to the battery system from the PV array. Essential for ensuring that batteries obtain maximum state of charge and longest life.
A device that goes in-line between the PV modules and the battery bank to control the flow of electricity entering the batteries. The purpose is to prevent over charging of the batteries and disconnect the bank at night. Some controllers also disconnect the load from the battery when the battery is empty.
Regulates the current from solar panels to your battery bank. The charge controller ensures the batteries are not over-charged and provides protection from the current running backwards to the solar panels.
