Lightning Activity Level. A number, on a scale from 1 to 6, which reflects frequency and character of cloud-to-ground lightning. The scale from 1 to 5 deal with wet thunderstorms with 5 representing numerous thunderstorms with frequent lightning. 6 represents dry lightning.
Lightning activity level. A number on a scale of one to six that describes the relative frequency and character of cloud-to-ground lightning in an area. A rating of six is assigned when little or no rain is expected to reach the ground. "Red Flag" warnings may be issued when level six conditions exist.
Lightning Activity Level. A number, on a scale of 1 to 6, that reflects frequency and character of cloud-to-ground lightning. The scale is exponential, based on powers of 2 (i.e., LAL 3 indicates twice the lightning of LAL 2).
